How to See Who Unfollowed You on Instagram (Without Your Password)

Instagram doesn’t tell you when someone unfollows you. Most “unfollower tracker” apps fill that gap by asking for your Instagram login, which hands your password to a third party and creates login activity Instagram can flag.

There’s a safer way: compare two copies of your own follower list, using the data export Instagram already gives you.

The two-scan method

1. Take your first scan. In Instagram, go to Settings and activity → Accounts Centre → Your information and permissions → Export your information → Create export → Export to device. Under Customise information, tap Clear all on each section and tick only Followers and following, then change Date range from Last year to All time and tap Start export. Instagram will ask you to re-enter your password on its own page. That’s Instagram confirming it’s you. UnfollowScout never sees it.

2. Upload it to UnfollowScout. Instagram usually notifies you within about 15 minutes, and the download link works for 4 days. Upload the ZIP and it’s analysed in your browser. It never reaches our servers. You’ll see who doesn’t follow you back straight away.

3. Come back and scan again. A few weeks later, request a fresh export and upload it. UnfollowScout compares it with your previous scan and shows who unfollowed you in between.

Why not just check manually?

You can scroll your followers list, but with more than a few hundred followers you won’t spot who’s missing. Comparing two exports catches every change.

Is it safe?

UnfollowScout never asks for your password, never logs in to Instagram, and never takes actions on your account, so there’s no login activity for Instagram to flag. Your follower data stays on your device.

How often should I check?

Monthly works for most people. It’s often enough to see real changes without requesting exports all the time. Each scan is saved on your device, so you build up a history of how your audience changes.
